ELEMENTS Show
This is my Radium piece for the Elements show at Black Amethyst Tattoo Gallery. Radium is known for glowing in the dark, being radioactive, and being discovered by Marie Curie. Radium was used to make watch faces glow in the dark and the ladies who painted those watch faces, "the Radium girls," had major problems with cancer after licking their paint brushes--to make a cleaner point on them. Gretchen is holding a paint brush in her lips while holding her bucket of #88--Radium. I also included a quote by Curie, "Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas." Also note that Getchen's buttons are skull and cross bones! The painting glows in the dark when the lights go out!
